Renewable energy jobs in India
India is building solar parks, wind farms and hydrogen plants on a huge scale. European engineers and project leaders who have done this before are wanted.
The context
India has set a target of 500 GW of non-fossil electricity capacity by 2030 and launched a National Green Hydrogen Mission. That means large investments in solar parks, onshore and offshore wind, storage, transmission and electrolysers, many involving European manufacturers, developers and investors.
Roles where Europeans are hired
- Wind turbine engineering, blade manufacturing and service
- Offshore wind development, especially along the coasts of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu
- Grid integration and power systems
- Battery storage engineering
- Green hydrogen and electrolyser projects
- Project finance, development and contracts
- Health, safety and environment leadership
Typical employers
- European wind and solar equipment makers with Indian factories
- Developers and independent power producers
- Engineering, procurement and construction firms
- Consultancies and certification bodies
Good to know
- Many projects are in remote areas; expect site travel.
- Chennai, Pune, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Delhi NCR host most corporate offices.
- Check visa type carefully for short technical visits versus longer assignments.
